We work with a range of stakeholders including communities, councils, statutory bodies and developers to improve Melbourne’s urban agriculture offerings.

We do this by offering a range of services and enabling projects that connect community, encourage sustainability and create opportunities for growing local food.

 What we do

Support for community gardens

_XFCPBgg.jpeg

At the core of what we do is community: helping groups of people start and maintain urban agriculture projects in their local area.

Establishing a community garden can be an incredibly rewarding initiative for you and your community. There are also several steps and factors to consider, including permissions and permits for land use, garden design, governance, funding, and what and how to grow. Our aim is to support you to simplify this process and break down any barriers by sharing our practical expertise, knowledge and resources.

Advice and guidance

We provide free advice to individuals and groups who are looking to start community gardens, as well as community compost initiatives.

Take a look at the steps to starting a community garden and please feel free to get in touch with us at hello@3000acres.org with any questions or requests for support.

Auspicing

We understand that getting a new project off the group can be overwhelming, and becoming incorporated and finding insurance and volunteers can be challenging for small community groups. For this reason, we frequently partner with emerging groups and auspice them so that they can access grants, our management support and our insurance.

Consulting
